“As a teacher of dance, I've come to recognize that becoming a dancer involves a lot of physical work, determination, persistence and a giving heart.

There is no doubt that dance training is rigorous.  I'm fascinated to investigate the factors that make young dancers progress and the factors that may prevent them from aspiring to greater challenges. Yet, it is always intriguing and rewarding to discover the one component unique in all students that motivates them to the next level.

As a teacher, this allows me to instill the desire that drives them physically, artistically and reflectively in their own pursuit of the art.

In my years of teaching, I've seen the triumphs and the victory of overcoming the obstacles a young dancer faces on their journey, the journey to that single fleeting moment of flight. It’s a single, elusive magical moment, and it is the greatest aspiration for a dancer, and as a teacher, my greatest reward.”  Deirdre
